Self-Ligating Braces

Self-Ligating Braces come either in traditional metal, ceramic or clear brackets and are made from the same materials as traditional braces. These type of braces deliver quick results and don’t have to visit your Orthodontist frequently. Self-ligating braces eliminate the need for bands and that makes it different from standard braces.

How it work?

Self-ligation braces work by using a tiny spring-loaded door to maintain pressure on the archwires. This process applies pressure to the system to gently adjust the teeth to the desired position. The need for tightening is eliminated for self-ligation braces as the result of latest technology used.

Types of self-ligating brackets

  • Passive — Uses a smaller archwire that creates less friction and allows teeth to move more freely. Passive brackets are often used at the beginning of treatment to help the teeth start moving into position.
  • Active — Uses a much thicker archwire that delivers greater pressure to the teeth and more aggressively moves them into position. The active brackets also offer more control for consistent, strong results.
